The Singapore Grand Prix

Formula One Racing held its 800th race on Sunday in Singapore,with the Singapore Grand Prix - also the first Formula One race held at night. Organizers built, then lined a 5 kilometer track with over 1,600 lamps, said to be four times brighter than those used at football stadiums. Twenty drivers drove 61 laps for a total of 309 kilometers at speeds sometimes approaching 300 kilometers per hour - in a country that once banned the sport, in part for promoting reckless driving. Driver Fernando Alonso of Renault won the race with a time of 1:57:16.304. (25 photos total)

Awsome Photos!! Awsome race as well. I'm sure the organisers will look at a few improvements on the track including creating a few more overtaking opportunities. Still don't forget Monaco which is a similar type of track, is the Showpiece of F1.

The night scenes is fanstatic.Next year will be even more better.More lights up
of thoses buildings.The IR resort coming up,the new bridges coming up,the circuit wil be improve.I am sure next year photos will be more awesome! You bet.Because Singapore always like to improve things !

Yes!!!! ferfecto. an italian expression... for me its a reminiscing.coz ive been part of the Ferrari Formula1 team. i got photos with schumacher on our christmas party dec2006. also formula1 cars and ferrari museum. fantastic im really very proud to be part of this racing competition. its the very first for the ferrari team to hired car builders like me who came all the from MANILA ASIA. again nice pictures. regards to all SIA people where i used to work before.........

its great to watch the F1. I'm from the philippines and went to singapore just for the heck of watching the race. Kudos to the organizers. You did a fantastic job and showed how a tiny nation can equal the west or even surpassed them. Its only the group of singtel that seems to dampen spectators spirit. Putting up of ticket booths without any ticket to sell is a great disservice to the organizers. You should have heard how people cursed you for plain stupidity. Singtel is the only black spot in the very succesful staging of the F1 race. Fellas, better improve next year. Lastly, control the scalpels

We made history, This was an event filled with people from all over the world which was an unforgettable event and undoubtedly very well organised. Thank you Singapore. The atmosphere, enthusiasm and energy of the people on the race day was at its peak.

I was involved as Track Marshall at Sector 17 (where Picquet hit his Renault against the concrete wall). That night on Race day, our tiny island just turn on the magic. For us Marshalls, all the hardwork of trainings & sacrifices months ago was worth it in every way. Thank you all wherever you are for being there & hope you guys will come back again next year! We promise it will be better than this year.

It was truly amazing, thrills, spills and all. My heart sings at the thought that my country Singapore tiny tho it is , achieved this spectacular feat in such a short time. My heart goes out to Felipe Massa and the Ferrari team but he lesson is
stick with the lollipop man for god's sake!

Great Pictures.

The color makes the subjects so real-life.
The actions were captured perfectly by the photographer.
Excellent photos in general. You are definitely a great photographer. Just curious, may I ask what camera and lenses were used? So little noises at night and yet the color is so "real". Any post process to enhance them?

Job well executed by both the organisers and the drivers. Frankly its should be considered the best organised racing track. Only Singapore can organise something like this in Mega scale to promote Asian tracks.
Well done for all asian viewer and I hope that FIFA will also look into organising the world Cup in the Far East as there are plenty of Fans here in Asia. This is a living proof of how the Asian Countries can organise if given the Chance to do so.
